Disclosures

Sponsorship, conflict-of-interest, and editorial-independence transparency for WhatisC60.org.

WhatisC60.org is intended to help further the research around Carbon 60. We publish educational content about Carbon 60 research. To maintain the credibility and editorial independence that makes that content useful, we disclose every funding source, financial relationship, and potential conflict of interest that could be reasonably relevant to our publishing. This page is updated whenever any of these relationships change.

Key Disclosure: Founder-Affiliated Sponsor

The founder of WhatisC60.org, Jessica MacNaughton, is also the CEO and co-founder of C60 Power (shopc60.com), the current sponsor of WhatisC60.org. This relationship is the most important disclosure on this page. It exists because Jessica co-founded both organizations and because both share the same underlying interest in expanding awareness of C60 research. The editorial firewalls described below and documented in our Methodology page are designed specifically to prevent this affiliation from compromising the independence of our published content.

Current Sponsors

Sponsor Relationship Disclosure Note
Financial Sponsor
Founder-affiliated. Jess MacNaughton is CEO of C60 Power and Founder of WhatisC60.org.

A company can be accepted as a sponsor only if it meets all four criteria:

  1. Third-party purity testing. The sponsor’s products are tested by an independent lab. Test results must be available on request.
  2. No solvent residue. Production processes must not leave toluene or other solvent residue. Sublimation purification is the standard.
  3. Clear ingredient and origin disclosure. Product labels list ingredients accurately and disclose carrier-oil source.

Meeting these criteria qualifies a company to sponsor. It does not mean WhatisC60.org endorses any specific product or makes a therapeutic claim about it. Sponsorship is a financial relationship, not a clinical recommendation.

Editorial Firewalls

The following rules prevent sponsorship from influencing editorial content. They apply to every piece WhatisC60.org publishes: research summaries, blog posts, FAQ entries, glossary terms, and the What-is-C60 hub:

  1. No pre-publication review by sponsors. Sponsors do not see, edit, or approve content before it is published.
  2. No content-selection influence. Sponsors cannot request that specific studies be summarized or omitted. The editorial team selects what to publish using the criteria in our Methodology page.
  3. Critical research is not suppressed. Studies showing negative findings, safety concerns, or critical perspectives on C60 are published if they meet inclusion criteria even when they touch sponsor products.
  4. No sponsor-authored editorial. Sponsors may submit press releases or research suggestions through the Get Involved page, but their content is not published as if it were independent editorial.
  5. Reviewer disclosure. A reviewer with a direct financial relationship with the authors of a study must disclose the relationship before reviewing the summary of that study, and may be reassigned.
  6. No “advertorial” disguised as editorial. Any paid content (if we ever publish such, which we currently do not) would be clearly labeled.

Conflict-of-Interest Policy

Contributors disclose any financial or affiliation interest that could reasonably influence editorial decisions on a specific topic. Disclosures are reviewed by the board. If a conflict is identified, the affected board member or contributor recuses from the relevant editorial decision.

The standing example: Jess MacNaughton’s dual role as founder and CEO of C60 Power is a disclosed standing conflict. She participates in board governance but the editorial firewalls described above prevent that role from influencing per-piece editorial content.

FTC Compliance for Content

U.S. Federal Trade Commission rules require disclosure of material connections between content publishers and the products they discuss. WhatisC60.org satisfies these rules in three ways:

  1. This Disclosures page documents all sponsor relationships in one easily-findable location.
  2. Where C60 Power or any sponsor product is mentioned in editorial content, the disclosure relationship is acknowledged inline or by link to this page.

Reporting a Concern

If you observe content that you believe violates these disclosures, please write to whatisc60@proton.me with the subject line “DISCLOSURE CONCERN.” The board reviews every disclosure concern and responds.

Last reviewed: October 2, 2026. Reviewed annually and updated whenever a sponsor relationship changes. We publish it in this level of detail because health-related YMYL content requires explicit, verifiable transparency about financial relationships.
